How Long Do Wax Melts Last?

3 minute read

If you're a fan of home fragrances, you've probably wondered, "How long do wax melts last?" Whether you're new to wax melts or a seasoned pro, understanding their longevity can help you make the most of your favourite scents. Let's dive into what affects the lifespan of wax melts and how you can maximize their fragrance.

What Determines Wax Melt Longevity?

The longevity of wax melts depends on several factors, including the type of wax, the quality of fragrance oils used and the size of the wax melt. Typically, a standard wax melt can last anywhere from 4 to 12 hours, depending on these variables. Soy wax melts, for example, tend to release fragrance more slowly and evenly, making them a popular choice for longer-lasting scent. At Planet Wax Co, we always use the maximum amount of fragrance oil that is legally allowed to guarantee the strength and longevity of our wax melts.

Maximising the Scent of Your Wax Melts

To get the most out of your wax melts, it's important to use the right type of wax melt burner. Electric warmers with a lower wattage tend to extend the life of your wax melts by gently heating them and allowing the fragrance to diffuse slowly. Additionally, keeping your wax melt burner in a draft-free area can prevent the scent from dispersing too quickly.

If using a tealight burner, it's important to choose a wax melt burner that is suitable for a 4 hour tealight as we recommend to never melt for more than 4 hours at a time.

Another tip is to break your wax melts into smaller pieces. Using only a portion at a time can help you control the strength of the scent and prolong the overall usage of your wax melts. We've thoroughly tested all of our wax melts and we've found that using 2 squares at a time is the perfect number for releasing the fragrance oil scent perfectly. You may even be able to see the fragrance oil vapour evaporating into the air when melting. This is perfectly normal so don't be alarmed by this!

When to Replace Your Wax Melts

You’ll know it’s time to replace your wax melt when the scent starts to fade, even though there’s still wax left in the warmer. This is because the fragrance oils have fully evaporated, leaving behind unscented wax.

We've tested all of our wax melts to ensure that they are of unrivalled strength and quality. In conclusion, while the longevity of wax melts varies, you can typically expect around 8-10 hours of fragrant enjoyment per use. By following these tips, you can make the most of your wax melts and keep your space smelling amazing for longer!
